Cali or Bust

Riding a motorcycle I built in a basement across the country didn't seem wild enough. So I did it completely analog.

Find room for carefree fun while starting my professional career

When I moved to LA, I left my motorcycle in Ohio because I always dreamed of riding it to California. I built my 1975 Honda CB750F in 2012 and it did well enough casually around town, but I wanted to put it and my skills to the test by riding across the country with only a paper map and camping along the way.

(Goal)

Ride a motorcycle I built from Columbus, OH to Los Angeles in two weeks

My goals were simple: head west, avoid highways, camp whenever possible, and make it to California before I ran out of vacation days. What started as a solo adventure, slowly brought in more excited journeymen. My dad, my best friend, and my uncle all rode with me for short or long stretches.

(Result)

Hell or high water, we made it.

The type 2 highlights included a crash in Indianapolis, a flat tire in Spotted Horse, WY (Population two), weather ranging from 30º – 116º, rain for three days straight, and 80 mph winds. The pit stop highlights included Mount Rushmore, Tetons, Yellowstone, Sundance Resort, wild horses, buffalo, and endless adventures.
